The wedding day

How long does the photography take?
The package you purchase will set certain limits on time, however you remain completely in control of the amount of time we spend on photography during the day. We offer a free consultation with you beforehand to find out exactly how you would like the photography to be planned around your day. We would suggest that one and a half to two hours is a reasonable time for the photography at the reception, of course not all of this time will be for 'formal' shots depending upon the style you require.

How many photos do you take?
We take an almost unlimited amount of photographs, these are then edited to select the best. A typical wedding may have 100 to 800 photos for you to choose from depending upon your chosen package.

What if we don’t want loads of group photographs?
You are completely in control of the kind of photography you would like for your day, some couples like a selection of group photos, other like us to capture just informal gatherings of guests enjoying the reception, and of course we can do a mixture of both. We would recommend a full group shot, venue and weather dependant as everyone is on this photograph who attended the wedding.

How long have you been photographing weddings using digital equipment?
We have photographed weddings since the start of 2002 with digital cameras, it allows us far greater flexibility than the medium format film cameras we used before 2002. In the wrong hands digital images can suffer from poor colour or density, undue digital noise, unnatural sharpening, over or under exposure and loss of detail in the highlights or shadows. By hiring a professional you can have peace of mind that all of these issues will be avoided with the correct exposure, lighting, colour and density calibration and technical experience to achieve stunning results.

After the wedding

When do we get to see our images?
We aim to post your wedding photos on our web site 3 to 10 days after the wedding. If you do not have internet access, we can send you a booklet of thumbnail images which you can use to choose photos and pass around family and friends, however the internet preview is both clearer with larger images and quicker.

How many photos do we receive?
For all of our 'story book' album packages, we do not limit the amount of photos you can choose. The final quantity of images will depend on either your choice of package or your choice of album design. A typical 30 page story book style album may contain 40 to 80 photos, depending on the layout of each page that you choose.

Who designs our album and chooses the images used?
You can chose the images for the album, the design can be carried out in one of two ways. Firstly we can design the album together, however it can take several hours to complete the album. Secondly, and more popular, we can create the album design and layout and email you a PDF file for approval.

When do we receive our album?
Our high quality story book albums are hand built. Once the album is constructed on screen then the order for the album can be sent, no further changes can then be made to the page layouts. The completed album will be delivered back to the UK usually within 4 to 8 weeks. We believe it is worth waiting for several weeks to receive a quality product that will be looked at for many years to come!

Do you produce a digital slide show on CD or DVD?
We have provided an option of purchasing a wedding DVD since 2003, all of our clients who have purchased a DVD in the past have been delighted with the quality of the product. The DVD will play a higher resolution version when inserted into a PC.

Other questions

My 'Uncle Bob' has a great digital camera and has offered to shoot our wedding for free, can you provide an album?
Defiantly not. We do not use other photographers snaps to try and then create our art work.

As well as our album we want a disc containing some full resolution images?
We can provide a disc that contains a selection of colour corrected and retouched images, the disc will also contain a PDF file stating that the professional photographs on the disc can be reproduced by the bride and groom for non commercial use.

We don't want an album, just a disc of full resolution images. Can you provide this?
I am afraid not, many hours of work go into photographing and preparing your images for the album to ensure you receive the best possible finished product, we also own full copyright of the images produced. It would obviously be detrimental to our business should you or a member of your family 'have a go' at editing the images and then mount these in a £19.99 album, then telling friends and family that SR Photography did the wedding photography!

We chose your lowest package for our wedding, however we would now like a larger album?
You can upgrade your package at any time before the wedding album is built. If you have already received your wedding album, for example last year, then we can normally still provide a large version of your existing album or a totally new version of your album.
